I teach Destination Imagination
to Pre-k through 5th grade

I have been teaching at Lakeside Academy for about 15 years. This is my first year as a part of the related arts team. I have been a Parent Coordinator part time and the Exceptional Educational previously.
I graduated from Auburn University with a degree in
Family and Child Development
and then attended UTC and earned a Masters in Special Education
My 4 children all went to Lakeside .This school means a great deal to my family and myself. My husband and recently moved to a new house with our 2 dogs Piper and Lucy. We love to play see movies, play games, and hang out with our children.

My favorite part about this new class at Lakeside is the excitement of children trying new ideas and working with each other. It is okay to mess up as long as you can say why and try again.

In Pre-K we work in a partnership with the Pre-K teachers on their current units. Each week we read a book and create an art project or do an activity about the theme or the book.
In Kindergarten students are expected to work in small groups of 3 on cooperative projects creating a model they have designed.
First graders are expected to work in groups of 4 or 5 cooperatively when given a task with 2 to 3 steps to solve a problem they have designed a solution for with their group.
2nd graders are partnered with small groups of about 5 or 6 students and are working together this year to create a life size pop up book.
3rd grade  has expectations to choose and research ideas for projects they are working with on in teams of 5 to 7 for the next 2 semesters.
4th and 5th grade have more independence within their groups of 5 to 7 with research and working together on their long term projects.
