A grant totaling nearly $50,000 from The Leonore Annenberg School Fund for Children was awarded to Lakeside Academy of Math, Science & Technology in Hamilton County. Lakeside Academy created STEM labs to enable students to experience hands-on learning and become creative problem solvers.
The Leonore Annenberg Grant has provided the funds to purchase countless educational tools for the students. For studying the very small, each STEM Lab student is now equipped with their very own microscope. And thanks to the Annenberg Grant and PEF, a telescope is also available for Lakeside Academy students to study the large, distant entities of our solar system. The grant also allowed for the purchase of library books, Little Bits, lap tops, iPad minis and numerous other technology for the students.
On Tuesday, September 27, the superintendent of Hamilton County Schools, the president of the Public Education Foundation, school board members, other dignitaries, and members of the community gathered at Lakeside Academy to celebrate the Annenberg Grant. There was a dedication ceremony and student-led tour of the new STEM labs.
